The Silver Beach area was once a vacation and resort spot for people living in Bellingham. Citizens took the trolley to dine at the Silver Beach Hotel or to enjoy ice cream at Marshall's Ice Cream Parlor. They may have come to visit White City, an amusement park complete with a roller coaster. Read an article, by Al Currier, of the Whatcom Historical Society, about the history of White City.
